I know all there is to know about the waiting game

Monday, September 26th, 2005

After having a somewhat unsatisfactory discussion with Kent at GMA on Saturday regarding the status of the cabinets (I’m not sure…I’ll have to call you on Monday…) we just heard from David.
Apparently they called him on Friday and said that there was some delay in the manufacture of the cabinets, and that they would not […]

Thursday, September 22nd, 2005

Hello dear friends and family!
You are witnessing my first experience blogging! This is pretty cool…
I thought I would share with you a few of the details for the kitchen and bathroom.
Cabinet Pulls: we have to talk to David about appropriate sizes.
Dishwasher: the dishwasher is stainless steel
Tile shop: for the main bathroom […]

Thursday update

Thursday, September 22nd, 2005

Just got a little tour from Jimmy…nothing to worry about on the ceilings - he just sprayed a texturizer on them, no popcorn in sight. The plan is for the “sander” (probably just an old college nickname) to come over tomorrow and sand the walls and the ceiling.
No word back from David yet regarding […]

Another day…

Wednesday, September 21st, 2005

Not much new to report.
For the past two days the drywall guys have spent a few hours each day here working, and will apparently be back tomorrow early AM to finish up their part of the job. Our shower parts also arrived, snug as onyx bugs in cardboard rugs stacked up in […]

Comparison

Tuesday, September 20th, 2005

Here are a few photos taken before the project started. All we had done to this point is paint the kitchen walls that shade of green (that is likely to return in some capacity). These photos were taken a few months before the kitchen started to self-destruct. A few days after […]

Day 22 Images

Not a whole lot transpired on Monday, but a few more pictures to look at. They were a’ muddin’ and a’ tapin’, and cutting out some of the holes for fixtures in the wallboard.

Shower / sink with seams covered. The shower material is supposed to arrive this morning, although it hasn’t been spotted […]

Day 21 Images

Tuesday, September 20th, 2005

We spent a week in Denver going to a wedding, among other things, and it was very nice in two different aspects. For one, we were in air-conditioned comfort with a minimal level of dust and noise. Secondly, we knew that we would come home to some significant progress after the crew had […]

Day 15 Images

Monday, September 12th, 2005

By now most of the wiring has been completed, and the lighting fixtures and outlet boxes have been roughed in. In addition, the plumber put in the lines for the washer and dryer, and ran a new cold water copper line to the fridge to power our icemaker (I hope it still works…).
We’re still […]

Inspiration

Here is the image that got the ball rolling, this is scanned in from the cover of the April version of House Beautiful. This design made the cut, beating out the other 7,321 home remodeling magazines we bought or pilfered over the prior 18 months.

Happy Birthday Liam!

Day 14

Sunday, September 11th, 2005

This is officially the 14th day of the project (well, the 14th day since demo began) and we made a huge stride yesterday - hot water was re-introduced into our lives. Rick the plumber and three electricians were over most of the day on Saturday and keeping very busy judging by the sounds of […]
